Best Mattress for Sleep: Your Complete Sleep Guide

‘Helping You Find The Best Mattress for Sleep’

Choosing the best mattress for sleep is one of the most important decisions you can make for your health and wellbeing. A mattress that truly supports the body improves posture, relieves pressure, and encourages deeper, more restorative rest. At Sleep Matters, we guide you through the science and craftsmanship behind our collections to help you find the right option for your individual needs.

‘Supporting You While You Sleep’

The best mattress for sleep should keep your spine aligned and distribute your weight evenly. Pocket spring technology is central to this, as each spring moves independently to respond to your unique shape. Higher spring counts offer greater precision, while comfort layers such as latex, memory foam, and natural fibres enhance pressure relief and breathability. The result is a mattress that works in harmony with your body, night after night.

Receiving the right support in bed is paramount to a great nights sleep

‘Rest and Relax’

True comfort goes beyond support. The best mattress for sleep creates a surface that feels inviting and allows muscles to relax completely. Materials play an important role: latex provides resilience and breathability, memory foam contours gently to ease tension, and natural fillings regulate temperature for year-round comfort. By combining these layers with advanced spring systems, our mattresses create the perfect balance between softness and support.

FAQ’s

‘What You Need To Know’

How do I go about choosing the best mattress for sleep?

The most important thing, when choosing your new mattress, is to find the optimum support level for you. Finding the correct support is crucial to promoting a good sleeping posture which in turn will ensure you have a great night’s sleep.

Shouldn’t I just try and find a mattress with a similar feel to my old one?

Certainly! If you have been happy with the quality of sleep your existing mattress has provided you with over the years, then we will take you through our extensive range to find a mattress that has a very similar feel to your current one. However, finding the correct support depends on your weight, height, build and even your preferred sleeping position, so it’s important to understand that your needs may have changed since you last bought a mattress- after all how much have you changed in the last ten years?

How will I know what the right support for me is?

To determine which is the right support for you, we will look at how your spine is aligned when you lay on our three levels of support: firm, medium and gently supportive. Then, with guidance from our team, you will feel when the support is right.

What if My Partner and I need different tensions?

The benefit of buying a bespoke bed from our store is that we ensure your mattress is made to meet the specific requirements of both you, and your partner. We offer dual tension ((half and half) and Zip and link mattresses, meaning you never have to compromise on support at Sleep Matters.

Can I continue to use my existing base?

Whilst we do recommend buying a new base with your new mattress to extend its life, some people do choose to order a mattress on its own

. It is important to let us know, when in store, what base you intend to use the mattress on so we can advise you accordingly. Our mattresses are designed to contour to your body, but equally they also contour to your base – so if that has dipped or is no longer supportive in any way the mattress is likely to follow suit.  Whilst it may be acceptable now – you’ve got to ask yourself will it last another ten years?

Should I buy a Sprung or a Platform top base?

This completely depends on the mattress, a sprung base works in conjunction with the springs of a pocket sprung mattresses, especially those with a high spring count, and ultimately improves its longevity. A Platform Top base, works particularly well with foam products, and provides a sturdy foundation.

Do I have to pay for my new bed all at once?

Here at Sleep Matters, we request a small 10% deposit when you order your bed. Then, once your new mattress arrives with us, we collect the remaining balance and arrange a delivery date and a time that suits you.
