NBF Bed Show 2017 — An Event Buzzing with Innovation

bed show 2017

The annual NBF (National Bed Federation) Bed Show is the hottest ticket in sleep technology.

And Sleep Matters were first in the queue — so we can give you the scoop on the latest products that‘ll improve your 40 winks.

The excitement of the eighth instalment at the Telford International Centre on 19th-20th September 2017 exceeded our expectations.

It’s hard to pick highlights in a show ram packed with quality, but here are a few.

High standards

Trade exhibitors at The Bed Show are always of the highest standard because they’ve got to be registered with the NBF.

The Sleep Matters team tried out lots of beds with this seal of approval, but these manufacturers(which we also stock) impressed us the most:

Highgrove Beds Group — displaying a huge collection of brand new designs and innovation. Highgrove has rapidly become the fasting growing manufacturer in the bed business, their cutting-edge manufacturing process has introduced Ergosense foam for great comfort and pressure relief that is completely heat free taking sleep technology to the next level.

Harrison Beds — this year’s runner-up in the Bed Manufacturer of the Year category continues to impress. 100 years of tradition and craftsmanship are channelled into every Harrison product. And it shows — their beds and mattresses are custom-built for each customer and feature the revolution spring system and all-natural fillings homegrown on Harrisons unique farm in the north of Yorkshire.

Mammoth — medical grade foam, pressure relief and temperature control combine to place these beds at the bleeding edge of sleep technology. Recommended by the national institute of health, endorsed by the Chiropractors Patients Association, The Chartered society of Physiotherapy and adopted by many of the country’s leading Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Mammoth’s posture cell technology continues to revolutionize the bed world.

Future innovations

NBF judges awarded gongs to several firms who have introduced trailblazing technology that will allow you to sleep more soundly than ever.

John Cotton Group won Bed Component Supplier of the year for launching the UK’s first foam free Monobloc mattress core for cots and becoming the first UK bedding company to achieve ISO/ts16949 certification.

Rawson Fillings was highly commended for securing a deal to manufacture a new filling material made from recyclable resin that’s easy to clean and eco-friendly.

The year ahead

Busy, vibrant and informative, we took a grab bag of tips from the show to help us stay ahead of the curve and provide premium products that will help you snooze serenely.

If this year’s show is anything to go by, The Bed Show 2018 should be a sleep-technology spectacular.

Fall Back In Love With Sleep This Sleeptember

Sleeptember

Sleeptember

The Hibernation season is among us! Deep shades of amber and rustic reds decorate the paths, the children return to their classrooms and, whilst we will miss those long summer’s nights, sleep lovers can rejoice as Sleeptember is here!

Why September is Great For Sleep

Hello Sleeptember

  • Its cool but not cold. This allows us to keep our windows open and ventilate our bedrooms to achieve a good sleeping climate.
  • The nights begin to draw in. Our bodies are  programmed to sleep when its dark. So, as its becomes darker quicker we become drowsier and find easier to wind down and relax on an evening.
  • Allergy sufferers can sleep without feeling congested. Pollen levels in the air have dropped, and whilst flu season is approaching, September allows us to breathe a little easier at night.

So why not dedicate this September to sleep! It is the perfect time to try and kick some old habits and concentrate on sleeping better. So heres a few handy tips on how to improve your sleep this Autumn.

Make Sure Your Mattress is Still Supportive and Comfortable

If you were lucky enough to escape to the sun this summer, you may have noticed a change in your sleep cycle. If you found you were getting a better night’s sleep than you do at home, this may mean its time to replace your old mattress. Mattresses that are no longer supportive or comfortable, can dramatically effect the quality of our sleep and ultimately how we go about our day to day lives. Consider investing in a great night’s sleep this September.

Switch To Your Winter Duvet

Winter Duvets for Sleeptember

If you have a Summer and Winter duvet, or have invested in a Four Seasons, now is the perfect time to take full advantage of it! The temperature is dropping and the nights are cooler, so wrap yourselves up in a cosy cocoon!

Take Time to Unwind

Rest and Relax - bedtime rituals sleeptember

Nothing makes for a better nights sleep than a good sleeping ritual. September is the perfect time to put it into practice. Snuggle up with a good book on the couch, or take time out before you go to sleep to run a relaxing hot bath. Try to steer clear of gadgets and gizmos an hour before bedtime, as the light emitted from these devices play havoc with our internal body clocks!

Decide On Your Bedtime and Stick to it

Life has a way of, well, getting in the way. But we should aim to go to be and wake up at roughly the same time every day. This will establish a good sleeping routine – which in turn will lead to a better nights kip.
